Thea's Walking Tour and Top of the Rock

sunny 5 °C

Yesterday Andrew and I were treated to a guided walking tour of TriBeCa, hosted by our tour guide Thea. Our very knowledgable guide who passed on many unknown facts took us down and around the financial district, pointing out items of significance along the way.

One very significant item was the former World Trade Centre site, and the small museum dedicated to the victims and survivors of the 9/11 attacks. Construction is currently underway on a new building at the site, so we were unable to view the memorial pools they have put into the footprints of the twin towers, but the museum was very moving.

We then hit Wall St, which is tiny and just off the lower end of Broadway, and very cold as it gets hardly any sun with the massive buildings all around it.

After a couple of cocktails whilst the sun was going down (2 for 1 martini's during happy hour at a bar on 6th Ave) we went up the Top of The Rock to checkout the city lights. Though it was a bit chilly up top, the view was amazing.

Dinner and more drinks at a Japanese restaurant and bar to watch the Knicks play since we couldnt get tickets to the game, and the night was done.

Macy's have a massive one day sale on today so we might head down there and see what is on offer.
