A Travellerspoint blog

sunny 22 °C

Finally my Vegas posting, have left it until 2.30am on my last night here to post an update of the past three days.

We arrived late on Tuesday night, so apart from watching the fountain go off here at Bellagio, we ha a quick go on the tables before calling it a night (played roulette and broke even for the night).

Next day was our helicopter flight out to the Grand Canyon, where we actually descended and landed in the canyon for a picnic lunch, complete with bubbly. You simply cannot comprehend how big the canyon is without seeing it in person. The flight out there was awesome, taking in some spectacular sights of Hoover dam, Lake Mead, and the general rugged terrain of the desert out here.

We splurged for a very fancy steak dinner, complete with sides of wild mushrooms, brussell sprouts and truffles potatos. Ranks up there as one of the best meals I have eaten, and definitely the best one of our trip.

After dinner it was game on, hitting the tables again. I have developed a preference for roulette over black jack, and finished the night at about quarter to 4 in the morning $250 up for the night.

Today we walked down the south end of the Strip, checking out New York New York (we rode the roller coaster which was excellent though a little bone jarring at times - more fun than and cheaper than a chiropractor though), excallibur, MGM grand. Given this is the first time in 2 weeks we have walked anywhere in tempaates above 12 degrees, we were thirsty by this stage and decided to grab a half-yard frozen margarita each to quench our thirst.

Tonight we saw Cirque de Soleil, the O show here at Bellagio, which was fantastic. Then I had truffles for dinner for the second night in a row, this time in a very good pea and pancetta pasta at another of the 7 restaurants here within Bellagio.

Finally another hit on the roulette wheel (broke even again), then upstairs to post an update for y'all before trying to get some sleep before the flight home tomorrow night, but before that we hit the factory outlets and check out the north end of the strip.
